Jess Armitage
Jess Armitage is a Clinical Psychologist and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist who is passionate about supporting adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues, grief and loss, complex trauma, and substance use.
Jess has experience across a range of settings including private hospitals, alcohol and drug counselling services, domestic violence and sexual assault services, child and family services and private practice. In addition to individual therapy, Jess has previously facilitated group therapy programs for individuals struggling with alcohol use, provided crisis interventions for women leaving high risk domestic violence relationships and worked as a case manager for at risk children and their families.
Jess provides therapy from psychodynamic perspective, which involves working to understand a patient’s inner emotional life and patterns of relating to themselves, others and the world. There is a focus placed upon exploring the role of past experiences, relational dynamics and unconscious processes on shaping an individual’s approach to navigating life’s challenges.
Jess meets with patients on a weekly basis at a consistent time. She strives to provide a supportive, non-judgemental therapy space that fosters curiosity and care for one’s life.
