Matthew Austin
Counsellor and Mental Health Social Worker
Hi, I’m Matthew Austin, a counsellor and Mental Health Social Worker. With over a decade of experience I specialise in supporting LGBTQIA+ adults in navigating self-criticism, trauma, and identity with warmth and non-judgmental care. With over a decade of experience, I help clients cultivate self-compassion, clarity, and confidence.
As a queer man, I understand the importance of a therapist who truly sees and affirms your experience. I’ve held senior counselling roles at Thorne Harbour Health and Queerspace, and I bring a deep commitment to working within the LGBTQIA+ community through a direct and action orientated approach. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from Gestalt Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to tailor our work to your unique needs.
